Jerry Barkley opened Crown Hill Automotive at 9009 Holman Rd NW in 1996 with a rule he has never changed: every car gets the same level of attention, the same honest diagnosis, and the same clear estimate. Whether it is a 1967 MGB or a 2024 Subaru.
Robert Barkley, his son, joined the shop and works alongside him. No corporate ownership. No franchise obligations. No change of address in thirty years. Just two mechanics and a team they trust, in the same building where the business started.

When Jerry started the shop, most of his customers' MGBs and Mustangs were already two decades old. He learned those cars the way you only learn things by fixing them over and over: what fails first, what the worn clutch feels like, what a tired Lucas electrical system actually needs versus what it appears to need.
That knowledge does not come from a manual. It comes from time. Crown Hill Automotive has had thirty years of it.

Jerry opened Crown Hill Automotive in 1996 and has run it from the same building on Holman Road ever since. He built a particular depth in British classics over the years — not as a marketing strategy, but because the cars kept coming in and he kept learning them.
After thirty years, Jerry is still the first point of contact for most customers. His reputation for honest diagnosis and clear estimates is why customers who found the shop fifteen years ago are still coming back. When the bill has no surprises, people return.

Robert grew up around the shop and joined full-time as a working mechanic. He handles diagnosis and repair across all service categories — modern vehicles, scheduled maintenance, and the British specialist work that comes through the bays regularly.
The transition from Jerry to Robert is not a succession in progress. They work side by side. A customer who has been coming to Crown Hill for fifteen years and someone who found the shop last week get the same level of attention from both of them.
